There was a problem with the gate lock that needed to be rectified.  Consequently, the gate keys that were issued at the Club Renewal Picnic will not work.  Please contact Shelly regarding a replacement key.  Her phone number and e-mail address appear in the black section above.

- State FITA Championship -

23-24 Aug     FAA 2008 State FITA Championship at Apopka - CANCELLED

The State FITA was cancelled due to the torrential rains and flooding caused by the tropical storm.  It has been re-scheduled at The Villages for September 6-7.  See FAA website for details

600 Round at Gold Coast Archers

Gold Coast Archers will be holding a 600rd tournament on Saturday, September 13.  This will be the same 600rd that will be shot at the State Target Championship on the second day.  Two start times are available - 8:30am and 10:00am.  Click here to go to the GCA website for registration information and full details.

Member Roger Gross sent me a story about the antics of a guy that tries to rope a deer so he can corn-feed it and eat it.  I was laughing as I read it.  Click here to got to the DEER ROPER story.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and I really hope it's fiction.  Thanks Roger.

Saturday, August 9th, Coon Shoot

On Saturday, August 9th, Everglades Archers and Safari Club International (SCI) held a coon shoot at our club grounds.  The turnout was somewhat light, most likely due to the ASA tournament and the Bass Pro Shoot being held on the same day.  However, there were still quite a few people attending.  SCI had a table with many items that were being raffled off, which included a nice rifle.  We had our usual cooking feast, with quite a variety of food being served.

After the dinner break Shelly and Chris went around the range setting the glow-sticks in the targets.  Once the sun set the remaining groups of archers took to the range to shoot.  Although I did not compete I walked around the range with the traditional group.  What a sight to see a star-filled sky above the darkened woods.  It was very quiet and serene.  I took pictures of the shoot which are posted on our photos page.
