What's Happening at the Club Just a brief update as to what is going on in the club these days:
FLINT RANGE: The new shade tarps are up over the practice area of
the flint range. Enjoy the respite from the sun. Eventually we
hope to put a more solid surface down so that we don't have to
stand in the mud during the rainy season. A special thank you to
Frank Ogden, who headed the effort, and all the people who assisted
him.
POLE BARN: The pole barn roof was replaced by one of our members,
Enrique Calderon,
and his construction crew.
TOURNAMENTS: We have hosted quite a few tournaments this year.
If you would like to start competing, please come out on any
Wednesday evening and one of the board members will be happy to
tell you how to get started. It's a great way to spend time on a
weekend and we'd love to have more participation at our
tournaments. All full members of the club are members of both the NFAA
and the FAA - which allows you to compete at any of the
tournaments. The only additional cost is the
registration fee for each individual tournament. The cost usually
ranges from approx. $20. to $30. depending on the type of
tournament.
WORK PARTY THIS SATURDAY, MAY 12: We are having a
work party this coming Saturday morning, May 12. Going
to do some basic range clean up, repair some of the target butts
and take down a couple of trees that have fallen across the paths.
Please bring gloves, and tools
or clippers/loppers if you have them. Your help is greatly
appreciated.
EQUIPMENT: Miami-Dade County Parks would like
us to set up concessions for both archery accessories as well as a
vending machine on the premises. Both are in the works.
Details to follow soon.
HUNTING: For those that hunt in the Big Cypress, it will be
closed to ORVs from June 3rd to August 3rd to allow the wildlife
relief from pressure period for the wildlife.
ANNUAL PICNIC: Our annual renewal picnic is July 15, 2012.
Please come and shoot, eat and have a good time.
WEB PAGE: Remember, our web address is www.evergladesarchers.com
There is a lot of useful information there, including our schedule
and how to get ahold of the board.
