Club FITA Tournament
August 9, 2009
Neil Kuntzman (r) and Cheri Houle (l) before the start of the tournament. |
Kevin measured the initial distances from the shooting line to the targets. |
That's what 90 and 70 meter targets look like from the shooting line - LOOONG! Kevin and Mike overseeing the start. |
In order to get 90 meters we have to set up the shooting line in the driveway and block off traffic. |
I can shoot my longbow much quicker than compound shooters, giving me time to take pictures. |
Neil is our club string-walker and he's really good at it, successfully shooting against compounds with his recurve. |
The banana peel on the ground served as a temporary marker until the distance was officially measured. |
One of the archers put one in the target frame. Cheri looks on as the guys extract the arrow from the wood. |
We decided to move the shooting line to the bottom of the hill to shoot the closer distance. |
Even though we moved the shooting line down it was still behind the regular practice range line, seen in the left picture. |
In FITA tournaments the target used for 50/30 meters is smaller, maintaining the level of difficulty. |
Although I shot poorly I still had a few good targets - my arrows are the ones with the grey/black feathers and pink nocks. |
